No-Drift TMR JoyCon Analogue Upgrade GuliKit Electromagnetic Analogue Sticks
No more drift.
Choose these Drift Free Gulikit analogue sticks as an upgrade to any custom Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons you buy from our shop.
These black analogues can only be added to custom Joy-Cons you add to your cart (and can not be ordered as a stand-alone item.)
Once you add them to your Joy-Con order, we will build them with the upgrade already assembled and ready to play.
The Switch Joy-Cons’ drift issue has been a pitfall of the iconic controllers since they were introduced. Depending on play style, after some time of use, the material and design of their analogue sticks can be worn out and cause unknown liquids, dust, or residues inside which result in connection failures, performance degradation, and drifting.
What Are TMR Hall-Sensing Analogues?
To solve drifting on controllers, Guli Tech has designed new sticks utilizing electromagnetic technology. Instead of carbon film material used in original Switch analogue sticks, the new electromagnetic sticks utilize Tunneling Magnetoresistance (TMR) technology for position sensing in a controller's analogue stick. This is a more recent advancement in analogue stick technology, often presented as an alternative or upgrade to traditional potentiometer-based sticks and Hall effect sticks. TMR technology is a further evolution of magnetic sensing. It relies on the principle of quantum tunneling of electrons through a thin insulating layer between two ferromagnetic layers. The resistance to this tunneling current changes based on the magnetic field. This completely eliminates the problem of carbon film wearing on the current sticks. GuliKit electromagnetic sticks solves drift, while still featuring high precision, long life and smooth experience.
Here are some of the advantages often associated with TMR analogue sticks:
- Higher Precision and Sensitivity: TMR sensors can detect even smaller changes in the magnetic field compared to Hall effect sensors, potentially leading to more precise and nuanced control.
- Lower Power Consumption: TMR sensors generally require less power to operate than Hall effect sensors, which can contribute to longer battery life in wireless controllers.
- Improved Stability and Reliability: Like Hall effect sticks, TMR sticks are contactless, minimizing wear and tear and significantly reducing the likelihood of stick drift. They are also reported to have better temperature stability and less susceptibility to magnetic interference.
- Faster Response Times (Higher Polling Rates): Some sources suggest that TMR technology can allow for higher polling rates, meaning the controller reports the stick's position to the console or PC more frequently, potentially resulting in lower latency and a more responsive feel.
- Extended Lifespan: Due to the contactless nature of the sensing mechanism, TMR analogue sticks are expected to have a longer lifespan compared to traditional potentiometer-based sticks.
Please note: This is an add-on and cannot be purchased separately. Orders with this upgrade will take their full processing time, as any regular controller customization.
